Maura Duffy
Department Lead Dr. Duffy grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida but has done a fair bit of traveling around the country since then. She received her BS in biology from Wake Forest University in North Carolina. She then obtained her DVM from Kansas State University. Dr. Duffy completed her small animal rotating internship at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston in 2011 and finished her Small Animal Medicine Residency at the University of Florida and became boarded in small animal internal medicine in 2015. Dr. Duffy’s research and publications involve proteinuria and lower urinary tract disease in dogs. She continues to lecture on a variety of topics including urinary tract disease management, immune mediated diseases, cavitary effusions, and a variety of endocrine diseases. Although she enjoys a wide variety of the conditions that internal medicine manages, she takes a special interest in immune mediated disease, hematology, infectious diseases, and endoscopic procedures. Dr. Duffy has been with AVES internal medicine since it opened and now manages the department. She enjoys helping the Austin referring veterinary and owner community with all the complicated diseases that arise. In her free time, she enjoys time with her goofy dog, Gus, and enjoys watching football, going to concerts or live comedians, traveling abroad, and trying new things to get out of her comfort zone.
