Austin Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center (AVES) is seeking a skilled veterinary technician to join our Internal Medicine Department. The successful candidate will work with a board-certified Veterinary Internist and other specialists and patient care personnel who provide excellent client service and the highest standard of patient care. Applicants should be enthusiastic, eager to learn, and have excellent multi-tasking abilities. Applicants should have exemplary communication skills with both colleagues and clients. The applicant’s skill set should include (but not be limited to) intravenous catheter placement, venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, drug dose calculation, and a strong interest in internal medicine.

Candidates who are graduates of an AVMA approved Veterinary Technology Programs with LVT status are greatly desired. Must have at least 2 years of veterinary patient handling experience, preferably with a veterinary specialty hospital or a veterinary emergency hospital.

AVES Internal Medicine department co-manages patients with our other specialty services including Neurology, Oncology, Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Dentistry & Oral Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Cardiology, and Rehabilitation & Fitness. The Internal Medicine technicians help support AVES’s goals of providing 24/7/365 services to the veterinary community by contributing to on-call services, holiday coverage, and occasional coverage in other departments.
