Alena Strelchik | DVM, DACVS-SA

Dr. Alena Strelchik was born in Belarus, a small country in Eastern Europe. Her family immigrated to Georgia when she was young, and she was raised in a suburb east of Atlanta. She completed her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees at the University of Georgia. After veterinary school, she completed a Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Internship at Texas A&M Small Animal Teaching Hospital in College Station and published research on intestinal surgery in dogs. During this time, she fell in love with the city of Austin and planned to make it her home one day. After her internship, she completed her surgical training at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center in Minneapolis. Dr. Strelchik is passionate about animal welfare, and she is dedicated to providing excellent care for her patients. Because of this, she wrote a grant to study post-operative pain management in dogs and received funding from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Strelchik is particularly interested in minimally invasive surgery, thoracic surgery, fracture repair, and surgery to address cranial cruciate ligament instability in dogs.
