Lalo Zamora | Emergency and Critical Care Department Manager

Lalo Zamora

Lalo Zamora is the Emergency and Critical Care Department Manager at Austin Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital (AVES). With a career in veterinary medicine spanning nearly a decade, Lalo has extensive experience in emergency care, team leadership, and department development within specialty and emergency hospitals.

Lalo's journey in veterinary medicine began in 2015 as an emergency veterinary assistant at a specialty and emergency pet hospital in Monterey, California. His passion for patient care and team collaboration led him to take on progressively advanced roles, including helping establish a new oncology department, managing a dermatology practice, and building a veterinary radiology department in Monterey County. In 2022, he was promoted to Assistant Practice Manager before joining AVES in January 2025.

As a leader, Lalo takes an adaptive approach to management, ensuring his team feels heard, respected, and supported. He believes in balancing patient care with the needs of the veterinary community while fostering a workplace culture that values growth and collaboration. His greatest fulfillment comes from seeing the impact his team makes, especially in those moments when a pet reunites with their family after receiving life-saving care.

Outside of work, Lalo enjoys baseball, trying new coffee and food, BBQing, and working on his own cars. Most importantly, he loves spending time with his wife and their small but sassy Chihuahua/Terrier mix, who keeps life entertaining.
