AVES Oncology Specialist, Dr. Timothy Stein, DVM, PhD, DACVIM, will be presenting at CAVMA’s meeting on Tuesday, July 12, 7 pm. This lecture is approved for 1 hour of CE credit. The topic will be: Veterinary Anti-Cancer Biologic Therapies and Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors.
This talk will focus on the availability and use of anti-cancer biologics (cancer vaccines and immunomodulators) for treatment of cancers in cats and dogs. The background and theory of cancer immunotherapy will be covered as well as clinical applications in veterinary medicine. An overview of therapies that may be available in the future will also be covered. The talk will also cover information regarding the use of tyrosine kinase inhibitors in veterinary oncology; what they are, how they’re used, and what tumors may be responsive to them, with specific attention given to the use of tyrosine kinase inhibitors used in combination with standard chemotherapy drugs.
