Technical Staff

Dentistry Technician


Austin Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center (AVES) is seeking a skilled veterinary technician to join our Dentistry Department. The successful candidate will work with a board certified Veterinary Dentist to provide the highest quality of veterinary dental care. Applicants should be enthusiastic, eager to learn, and have excellent multi-tasking abilities. Applicants should have exemplary communication skills with both colleagues and clients. The applicant’s skill set should include (but not be limited to) intravenous catheter placement, venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, drug dose calculation, and experience with veterinary dentistry.

AVES is a multi-disciplinary hospital which provides Surgery, Neurology, Emergency and Critical Care, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Dentistry & Oral Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, and Rehabilitation & Fitness services. The hospital is 24/7/365 hospital therefore all employees help contribute to occasional holiday coverage.

Candidates who are graduates of an AVMA approved Veterinary Technology Programs with LVT status are greatly desired. Must have at least 2 years of veterinary patient handling experienced, preferably with a veterinary specialty hospital or veterinary emergency hospital.

Veterinary Anesthesia Technician


Austin Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center (AVES) is seeking a technician proficient in veterinary anesthesia to join our team. AVES is a multi-disciplinary hospital supporting Surgery, Neurology, Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Oncology and Dentistry & Oral Surgery services. The eligible applicant should have a vast technical skill set with a focus on veterinary anesthesia and patient monitoring. The applicant would provide anesthesia services for all specialty departments managing patients with a multitude of systemic diseases, orthopedic, soft tissue or neurologic diseases.   Anesthesia cases at AVES include (but are not limited to) advanced imaging (CT and MRI), orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, laparoscopic procedures, endoscopy, cystoscopy, dental and oral surgery, and sedated procedures. Equipment available include pulse oximetry, capnography, invasive and non-invasive blood pressure, ECG, and mechanical ventilators.

Our surgery technicians assist doctors in examination rooms and provide care to a variety of patients before, during and after surgery. Responsibilities include maintenance of all medical, anesthesia, and surgery records/logs, anesthesia induction and maintenance, cleaning and maintenance of surgical equipment, surgical preparation of patients, circulating in the operating room, scrubbing in to assist during surgical procedures, immediate pre and post-operative treatments and recovery of surgery patients.

AVES surgery department co-manages patients with our other specialty services including Surgery, Neurology, Oncology, Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Dentistry & Oral Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, and Rehabilitation & Fitness. The surgery technicians help support AVES’s goals of providing 24/7/365 services to the veterinary community by contributing to on-call services, holiday coverage, and occasional coverage in other departments.

Emergency and Critical Care Technician

The applicant would help care for both emergent and critical patients evaluated via the ECC department and will also help support patients hospitalized via other specialty services including Surgery, Oncology, Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Dentistry & Oral Surgery.

The qualified candidate should be enthusiastic, eager to learn, and have excellent multi-tasking abilities. The candidate will work closely with veterinarians and other patient care personnel that provide excellent client service and the highest standard of emergent patient care. The applicant should have exemplary communication skills with both colleagues and clients. The applicant’s skill set should include (but not be limited to) intravenous catheter placement, venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, drug dose calculation, managing patients with infectious diseases, and managing critical hospitalized patients.

The applicant must have at least 2 years of veterinary patient handling experienced, preferably with a veterinary specialty hospital or veterinary emergency hospital. This position may include weekends, holidays, and/or nights.

Marketing Coordinator


The Marketing Coordinator will be located in San Antonio but will support marketing activities for Austin and San Antonio and will report to the Hospital Directors for MissionVet Specialty & Emergency and Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center. The primary job for the Marketing Coordinator is to build positive awareness of the hospitals with the goal of increasing referrals and caseload. The Marketing Coordinator will support the Marketing Director, Referral Relationship Managers, and hospital-wide teams for tactical marketing execution and assistance of marketing strategies and organizational efforts to drive practice growth.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  •  Becomes an expert on AVES and MissionVet services and capabilities to be a credible source of information for referring veterinarians and the pet owner community.
    • Responds to online inquiries
  • Works with various vendors to update reorder marketing materials as needed (client and rDVM)
  •  Manages hospitals’ online reputation
    • Shares positive reviews with hospital staff
    • Follows up with hospital director or other hospital personnel as needed
  • Manages the day-to-day execution of social media platforms and strategies including content acquisition and incentives
  • Coordinates industry-focused events such as continuing education conferences, pet owner-geared community events, as well as hospital presence at trade shows. Works with local organizations to execute community events.
    • Leads the events with little to no oversight, including soliciting and leading staff volunteers, ordering needed collateral, etc.
  • Supports the coordination of industry-related PR and media outreach for important hospital events and news.
  • Manages the client survey process.
  • Supports the Marketing Director in the day-to-day management of all additional marketing programs including but not limited to: website maintenance, SEO, CRM management, direct mail, and email platforms.
  • Helps support administrative functions of the marketing service. This includes some data entry, reconciling marketing invoices, communicating with corporate HQ, etc. (credit card backup)
  • Reports to the Marketing Director on metrics to track success of marketing initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Emulates the AVES and MissionVet brand in day to day activities by exemplifying the following traits: clear and accurate internal and external communication, compassion for pets and clients, desire to provide superior customer experience, positive attitude, self-starter, flexibility, ability to wear multiple hats, roll up sleeves when needed, and work well with a team
  • 2-3 years of experience in marketing, PR or sales
  • Clear understanding of the importance of integrated marketing techniques and marketing’s collaborative impact/involvement across a business organization
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tactics while staying organized
  • Passion for learning more about the marketing field and working with people to build lasting relationships
  • Experience in the following tools is a plus: marketing automation tools, social media dashboards (HeyOrca, etc.), email marketing tools, and Adobe CS or other design tools
